What is an Active/Classic/Combi Paddle?
In the case of an active paddle the ball stop is precise and short because the balsa core is surrounded by a layer of very thin cover sheets. The ball stops therefore seemed strong and locally based because the catapult of paddle is released more quickly so that you have to pull out the wrist or forearm in a faster arm movement. The ball must therefore be taken in the rising ball flight phase and not in the falling phase to achieve the highest possible spin. If you play the ball in the case at the falling phase, then the balls have much less spin than with a play in the rising ball flight phase. Active paddles have a larger sweet spot behavior if this paddle is more than 10 mm thick. You can shoot without approach. The thicker these paddles are, the greater is the sweet spot behavior. In case of a classic paddle on the other hand is the ball stop supporting because the cover sheets are much thicker. In thicker deck, the ball carries over the whole topsheet surface so that you now have a much longer ball movement without the catapult of the balsa can be released to the outside. Classic paddle can therefore play much more passive than active paddles. Combined Paddles can be active as well as passive paddles. The mass behavior of paddle can be used in most of the cases over the KSLS-System. The lighter combo paddles are, the more defensive is your overall gaming behavior the heavier the mass behavior, the faster, such competition paddles, to the unplayable. You can notice an override of the paddle on a bouncing ball stick, which goes unchecked and slow and understeer to a cardboard ball stop, which is also slow and uncontrolled.
